Wake up and smell the democracy - Canada has chosen. (Albeit with the lowest turn out in 75 years - 63% of eligible voters - Geez people! Where were you?)

Still, in light of the US election, there are so many sarcastic comments that I could make here it's not even funny. Anyway - the only thing I will say here is that I think there is something to be said for manual standardized ballots. In Canada we have a standardized ballot which individuals mark an 'X' on. None of this 'chad'/voting machine/weird arrow thingy stuff. Just a simple 'X'. Results are then tabulated and - bingo! We know who our PM is in two hours.

I have made a handy-dandy map of Canada to illustrate how the different provinces voted. It's no surprise to note that Canada is a very regional country - in the sense that the Liberals have their areas, the CA has their areas and the BQ has Quebec.
